Welcome to Fix the Fells
The Lake District is one of the most beautiful places in the world. However our high level paths are surprisingly fragile. With millions of visitors each year, grass is compacted by feet and worn away by our wind, rain and ice.
A number of Organisations are working to Fix the Fells. We’ve fixed 102 Lake District paths, but 74 are still in desperate need of some tender loving care. Check out our Photo gallery to see the problem and how we're fixing it.

Dear Fix the Fells
In 2001 I was in a real state but if people don’t respect your boundaries, what can you do? At 8 metres wide I was way too big and had lost my zigzag curves – I needed serious help.
Fix the Fells flew to the rescue by using a helicopter to transport a digger up the hill to turn the clock back and cover the scar. Now people enjoy walking on me and I’m no longer on edge.
Thankyou!
