From Fix The Fells to Fix The Floods!
As soon as the Cold Pike repairs described in our last update were finished we were suddenly faced with the urgent task of repairing flood damage after the November deluge.

Although we did not experience anything as traumatic as the carnage incurred further north, many farms suffered serious damage to riverside fences just at the time sheep were being taken from upland grazing to be placed in the fields which were now no longer secure.
First task was the tedious one of removing masses of debris from the netting before re-erecting it where possible and in badly damaged sections replacing it with new materials.
We have also been keeping our Fix the Fells volunteer working parties busy with our ongoing programme of dry stone wall renovation near our Milkingsteads base.

Looking ahead to the coming year we have already begun the bagging of stone in the shadow of Scafell, having brought 100 helibags up to the Hollow Stones site with the ever trusted powerbarrow.[photos getting bags to the hill/bags full and ready to fly]
