Blue Peter presenters on Sca Fell Pike for Sport Relief

The Western Valleys National Trust footpath team and John Atkinson, National Trust Upland Footpath Manager hosted a visit in February from Blue Peter presenters. Gethin, Zoe and Andy scaled Sca Fell Pike as part of their ‘Trek to the Top’ filmed for Sport Relief, to be screened on BBC1 this Tuesday and Wednesday 12 and 13 March.
John said: "It was a great chance to talk about the challenges facing the Trust and our partners in the fixthefells project, - managing the impact of thousands of walkers on one of the most popular routes in the Lake District. We also stressed that walking is great fun, a great way to keep fit and most importantly, something to enjoy, especially the views from the top – on a clear day!
The presenters were lucky, they had some of the best winter weather so far – clear blue skies and a light dusting of snow. I won’t tell you which one got out of breath the quickest – but they all seemed to enjoy their day out on the fells."
