Fife Air Cadet Conservation Volunteers

Fife Air Cadets Conservation Volunteers spent the week installing stone built drains on a popular roadside path between Coniston and Ambleside.Many of the techniques used on the upland fells can be equally useful on low level paths and this group spent the week learning how.

A week on Bliscoe

Here at the National Trust’s volunteering centre at High Wray Basecamp we always look forward to our upland footpath working holidays. A few weeks ago we had our first one of the year, on Pike ‘o’ Bliscoe, above the Langdale valley. Admittedly, the full time footpath teams do head up onto the fells a little earlier in the year than this but we like to wait until there’s a better chance of some decent weather for our groups – it is supposed to be a holiday after all!
