Site description:

A mountain pass which lies between Grasmoor and Crag Hill.

Geology:

Skiddaw Slate. Below is Force Crag Mine, the last mineral mine to close in the Lake District.

Ecology:

Sheep fescue grass, mosses and lichens

Level of use:

Moderate to heavy

Coledale Hause forms part of a number of circular walks from Buttermere and Newlands Valley. Prior to this work, it used to have the deepest path erosion scar in the Lake District. Many thousands of tonnes of material had been washed away.
