Get fixed up with a fantastic gift this Christmas

7 December 2009

Some people are ridiculously difficult to buy for at Christmas, so this year why not try an alternative fail-safe to the usual socks? Fix the Fells are offering a range of gifts that are unique, eco-friendly, give that warm fuzzy feeling and cost as much or as little as you like! Perfect for the person who loves the outdoors this Christmas.

Gift options vary from £10 to landscape a metre of path, £50 to buy a bag of grass seed, right up to £600 to pay for an hour’s helicopter ride (for stones only!).  Most of these things are quite difficult to wrap, so instead you can print off a special personalised gift certificate to give to that special someone.

Would you like this Fix the Feller under your Christmas tree?    Path repair

Fix the Fells is a project to repair and maintain the paths which give us access to the stunning mountains and uplands throughout the Lake District. Over 10 million people tread these paths each year, which adds up to quite a lot of wear and tear. So, the National Trust, Lake District National Park, Friends of the Lake District, Natural England and the Tourism and Conservation Partnership have teamed up to combat path erosion and keep our upland areas pleasant places to visit.

Fix the Fells team thank supporters

The project started in 2001 and since then 150 paths have been repaired. There are another 70 pathways still to be ‘fixed’.

Fix the Fells is funded mostly by donations. The Heritage Lottery fund adds an extra £2 for every £1 you donate – tripling the value of your gift.

Your gift donation could make someone very happy this Christmas, and help the fells in a way that no pair of socks ever could.
