Place Fell

Place Fell from Boredale Hause is a popular path that has now reached a critical point. Frequent trampling kills the vegetation, allowing rain water to channel down into the soil. Water washes the soil away, so walkers abandon that line and move to the side. The process continues, gradually widening and deepening the scar.

Before things get too bad, a stable path line needs to be created, and suitable drainage to keep water away from the path. On this site, the path will be a part sub-soil and part stone pitching. Hopefully the work will be carried out in 2008.
