The South Lakes team spent the summer of 2013 working on the path from Grisedale Tarn to Fairfield summit. Over the years, this path had eroded away and been turned into a scree at various points. The team narrowed the path by using stone-pitching.

Our volunteers spent time helping this work and we were joined by John Darlington, a National Trust Director for the North West and Mike Innderdale, also from the National Trust and who chairs the Fix the Fells Board.

The lovely summer we had in 2013 meant the team got to enjoy some sunshine whilst they worked and have lunch looking over Grisedale Tarn. It was a long walk up each day from the top of Dunmail Raise to the work site though.

In total, the project cost £32,000 with 160 bags of rock being flown.
