Fix the Fells volunteer team wins National Trust annual North Star Volunteer Award.

Fix the Fells volunteer team comprises 135 volunteers from Cumbria and beyond, who are usually to be found on the Lake District fells maintaining and repairing paths to help protect the fragile mountain landscape. Last year the volunteers contributed 2,500 days throughout the year, working in all weathers.

Three representatives of the volunteer team attended an evening reception held at Ormesby Hall, where they were presented with the award in recognition the effort put in by the whole team.  Pictured above are volunteers Alan Manby, Caroline Mercer and Mark Dakin, hardly recognisable out of their working gear!
