North Lakes Hotel & Spa in Penrith has raised £1,438 to help “fix the fells” in the Lake District after a year of fundraising events.

Hotel staff chose the local cause as the beneficiary as many of them, and their hotel guests, enjoy walking in the Lake District fells and wanted to do something to look after the landscape they love.

To raise the money, staff and customers held a series of events, including a raffle, BBQ and a rowing competition.

General Manager at North Lakes Hotel & Spa, Antony Penny, said: “We are really lucky to live and work in the most fantastic area and raising money for Fix the Fells was one way we could play our part in looking after them.

“We’ve had a lot of fun in the last year raising this money and I’d like to thank all the team who have organised events along the way and everyone who has supported them.”

Joanne Backshall, Fix the Fells Programme Manager, said, “We are really grateful for this generous donation towards our work repairing and maintaining the upland paths and landscape of the Lake District. We could not do this without the fantastic help and support we receive from local businesses such as the North Lakes Hotel & Spa, which appreciate and enjoy the fells and want to put something back in to their upkeep.”
