Fix the Fells has received a donation of £2,000 from Ourea Events as part of their annual 1% For The Planet contribution.

Ourea Events organises the UK’s finest off-road mountain running events, such as the Cape Wrath Ultra®, the Berghaus Dragon’s Back Race®, Salomon Skyline Scotland™ and the SILVA Great Lakeland 3Day™.

These events guarantee challenging, memorable and adventurous experiences. They are meticulously organised by a highly-motivated team of professionals, who share the passion for running, adventure and the mountain environment. Participants who sign up for these events will often find themselves in some of the wildest, remotest and most beautiful landscapes that the UK offers.

Shane Ohly – Director of Ourea Events, explains the importance of the 1% For The Planet donations: “Ourea Events has now been a member of 1% For The Planet since 2012 when the company was started. I strongly believe that part of being a responsible and forward-thinking business, is to account for the impact we have on the planet. Whilst recycling, public transport and low energy lightbulbs all have a part to play, sometimes a cash donation makes a real difference. I understand our contribution to the excellent work of these organisations is just a drop in the water, but I hope our example will encourage other users of the fantastic outdoor environments to contribute to their upkeep.”

1% For The Planet is a global organization, started in 2002 by Yvon Chouinard, founder of Patagonia, and Craig Mathews, founder of Blue Ribbon Flies. Members have given more than $150 million to environmental non-profits to date. Today, 1% For The Planet is a network of more than 1,200 member businesses, numerous individuals, and thousands of non-profit partners in more than 40 countries.

Ourea Events are proud to support the work of Fix the Fells, and they look forward to seeing how their donation will continue to support this valuable work in the future.
